How we combine Accounting, Process Improvement, and Process Automation to help you succeed

Who we are and how we can help

I have over 30 years experience in accounting, process improvement, and process automation. We leverage this combination to help understand your business, improve your business, and operate efficiently to the delight of your customers. I hold active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designations and understand how accounting and back office operations work and the value they can provide. I apply my process improvement philosophy and tools both as process owner and leader of process improvement initiatives to drive value to customers. I have always been at the leading edge of technology for process automation. Most recently, I led the implementation of Robotics Process Automation (RPA) for a large global finance and accounting organization.

We would like to apply these strengths to add value for you and your business. We are continually looking for ways to help and would like to learn more about you, your business, and the challenges you face.

Accounting and Back Office Operations

My career has spanned most accounting and finance roles across various size companies. These roles include cost and inventory accounting for manufacturing companies, controllership duties for companies from a small corporation to divisions of large private companies to a large public company. I have also had roles involving forecasting and planning at all levels. I’ve led the accounting for complicated issues like deferred revenue recognition for extended service contracts, for insurance accounting, and amortization of inventory variances.

Process Improvement

I was first exposed to process improvement / quality management early in my career. As Plant Controller I was part of the plant management team trained in “Juran on Quality Improvement.” Here we learned and applied concepts of cost of quality, Pareto principle, and Juran’s “breakthrough sequence.”
In my next role as Division Controller we learned Deming’s approach to TQM and was exposed to his “14 points” and his more philosophical view of quality and the impact on the organization. Finally as Corporate Controller of a mid-sized automotive supplier to Toyota we learned the Toyota Production System (TPS). As TPS was adopted by other companies it became known as “Lean.”
I saw each effort produce remarkable results in every organization. Something clicked for me… Continuous Improvement “felt” right. The balance of customer value focus, respect for the employee, and waste reduction fit my personality. I applied these concepts as my job responsibility and companies got larger and more complex. My ability to improve processes in Accounting and Finance roles contributed to my advancement.
In most recent roles I was able to focus on Process Improvement for a large global finance organization, combining this training and experience into a tailored approach that created significant value for the company.

Process Automation

I have always been an early adopter of technology. I had the original Macintosh, the Compaq “lunchbox,” all the various forms of MS Windows. I have managed teams focused on data management for accounting processes and led the development of specific applications when needed to accomplish complex accounting requirements.
Lately, I have been able to apply technology to process improvement through the implementation of Robotics Process Automation (RPA). In a short period of time we selected vendors, setup infrastructure, built a team of process analysts and RPA developers to automate processes. In less than six months we went from software acquisition through the automation of 35 Finance & Accounting processes. In only a year we had grown our portfolio of automatons to over 60 and delivered significant savings back to the business.
